John Mayer
John’s looking pretty damn cool on that album cover, and he comes back with his newest album Battle Studies reinventing himself once again to the pleasure of everyone’s ears. Battle studies opens up and maintains the sound of a very general smooth rock rock n’ roll album. With Mayers’ classic, and indisputable lyricism. The lyrics are true and personal and the music is light and airy. Battle Studies is infectiously catchy, even from the first time you play it. After Room for Squares, Heavier Things, and Continuum I’ll admit I had my doubts about this album, and how it would stand up in the wake of his past three incredible releases. I’ll be the first to say this album doesn’t disappoint in the slightest, transitioning between songs effortlessly and making you to want to listen to more.
This album doesn’t sound like any of his old tunes, which just goes to show how timeless John really is. He’s one of the greats of our generation, without pause putting out great album after great album. These eleven songs are all pretty good, all having tier own unique sound, which goes twoard the ‘experimental’ aspects of the album. 45 minutes you wont regret, it hits ya hard, and doesn’t let go.
